One eSIM for several countries: when a regional or global plan makes sense

If your trip crosses borders, you don't need a new eSIM in every country. A regional plan covers a group of countries with one eSIM and one pool of data. It switches to a local network by itself as you cross the border, by car, train, ferry or plane.

How a regional plan works

You install one eSIM before you leave. When you arrive in the first country, it connects to a local network there. When you cross into the next country, it connects to a network there instead. Your data and days carry on from one country to the next.

Nothing to swap, nothing to buy at the border, and no roaming bill.

When a regional plan is the right choice

  • You're visiting two or more countries in the same region.
  • You're driving through several countries to get to one, like the drive from Germany or Austria down to the Balkans.
  • You don't know your route yet, and want to stay flexible.
  • You take a ferry or cruise that stops in different countries.

When one country is better

If you're staying in one country, a single-country plan is the simpler pick. It often gives you more data for the money, and some single-country plans connect to more local networks than the regional plan does there. Check the network named on each plan before you buy.

The global plan for people who travel all the time

Our global plan covers over 100 countries. It has a 1 GB plan that stays valid for a full year, which works as a backup in your phone: for the airport on the way home, a surprise layover, or the first hour in a new country before you sort anything else out.

Tips for trips across borders

Check the list before you buy. Every regional plan shows its countries. Small states like Monaco, Andorra and Gibraltar have their own networks and aren't always included.

Two eSIMs are fine. Your phone can hold several eSIMs. If your trip is mostly in Turkey with three days in Greece, a Turkey plan plus a small Europe or Balkans plan can work well. Switch the data line in your settings when you cross.

Hotspot works everywhere. Every plan allows hotspot, with no daily cap, so the car or the family can share one plan across the whole trip.

Top up on the road. If your trip runs longer than planned, top up the same eSIM in the app.

Frequently asked questions

Can one eSIM work in several countries?

Yes. A regional or global plan covers many countries with one eSIM, and connects to a local network in each.

Do I need to do anything at the border?

Usually not. The eSIM switches network by itself. If it doesn't connect after a few minutes, turn airplane mode on and off.

Is a regional plan more expensive?

It depends on the trip. For one country, a single-country plan usually gives more data. For two or more, one regional plan is simpler and often costs less than several.

Which plan covers Turkey and Europe together?

Our Europe plan includes Turkey, the UK and Switzerland, alongside the EU countries.
