Travel eSIM refund policies compared: most give you 30 days, we give you 5 months

In this article
Most travel eSIMs give you 30 days to change your mind. That's fine if you buy the week before you fly. It's not much use if you book your summer holiday in February.
With Blue eSIM, you can cancel any eSIM you haven't installed, for any reason, for up to 5 months after buying.
We read each provider's own refund policy in October 2026. Rules change, so check the provider's page before you rely on it.
Refund windows side by side
| Provider | Time to cancel an unused eSIM | How you get the money |
|---|---|---|
| Blue eSIM | Up to 5 months | Full price as Blue eSIM credit; card refund for faults |
| Nomad | 30 days | Not stated in the policy |
| Yesim | 30 days | Card; refunds of €10 or less only as Ycoins credit |
| Maya Mobile | 30 days | Card, minus payment fees, or reward points |
| Saily | 30 days | Full refund through support |
Why the window matters more than you'd think
People book trips months ahead, and that's exactly when plans fall through: a visa that's late, a flight that's moved, a family member who drops out. With a 30-day window, an eSIM bought in spring is usually locked in by the time anything changes.
Five months covers the whole gap between booking and flying for almost every trip. So you can buy your eSIM with the flight, while you're thinking about it, and stop worrying.
The small print elsewhere
Each provider's rules have catches beyond the 30 days.
Yesim pays refunds of €10 or less only as Ycoins, its own credit, and its page says those can't be turned back into money. On a small plan, Yesim's refund is credit too, just with a shorter window than ours.
Maya Mobile takes payment processing fees off a full refund, and its page says card refunds can take up to 30 business days.
Nomad's policy excludes several plans, its unlimited plans among them, which follow separate rules on their product pages. Plans bought with a discount code can't be refunded once installed.
What Blue eSIM gives back
For change of mind, you get the full price as Blue eSIM credit. Nothing is taken off. The credit works for any plan in any country, and for top-ups, so a cancelled trip simply becomes the next one.
When something goes wrong on our side or the network's, we refund your card in full: if the eSIM couldn't be delivered or installed, if it can't connect and our support can't fix it, or if you were charged twice. The details are in can I get a refund on a travel eSIM? and our refund policy.
